In an emergency call 999 and ask for Police then Mountain Rescue
Scottish Mountain Rescue have published their Annual Review for 2023.
The Annual Review covers the year 2023 and looks at the work of the volunteer rescue teams, team member profiles and rescue stories, as well as achievements that have been made over the year.
This year’s Annual Review reflects another extremely busy year for teams, with call-outs still around a third higher than pre-pandemic. In addition, with increased pressures on the ambulance service, mountain rescue teams have at times been required to transport casualties to hospital instead of the usual practice of handing over to an ambulance at the road side. All of this plus continued rising costs has had an impact on teams stretching their resources further.
This year’s Annual Review reflects another exceptionally busy year the mountain rescue teams have experienced and the huge and varied work carried out by teams. We reflect on the support that they provide to their communities as well as they support we receive that makes their life saving work possible.
