Meet Our Supporters – Highland Experience Tours
Three members of the Highland Experience Tours team recently took on a bungee jump to raise money for Scottish Mountain Rescue. We got in touch to hear more about their unique experience!
Can you tell me more about Highland Experience Tours?
We’re a family-run tour company offering group tours, catering to Scotland enthusiasts seeking to experience the best of Scotland and discover hidden gems off the beaten path. We have the best tour guides, and with their passion, storytelling, and a sprinkle of fantastic Scottish music, they bring Scotland’s history to vibrant life.
Why did you decide to fundraise for Scottish Mountain Rescue?
We as a company have selected Scottish Mountain Rescue as we understand that the Scottish terrain and weather can be ruggedly beautiful but also unpredictable and that is why we want to support those who volunteer their time and resources in search and rescue missions across the Scottish Highlands.
What inspired you to choose the Highland Swing?
We decided we wanted to push ourselves in 2024 and start the year off with a thrilling activity. We saw Highland Fling’s mantra of “Because you are alive. Because it’s there. Because you can.” And we knew that we wanted to go with them as we fully agreed with their ethics. The Highland Swing provided a daunting challenge that we wanted to take on to overcome our fear of heights and it was the perfect opportunity to raise money for a great cause.
What kind of preparation/ training did you do for the event?
The team at Highland Fling were great at informing us of all the safety procedures on the day so we were in safe hands! The only thing we needed to prepare was a motivational playlist for the scenic drive up there!
What was the hardest and the most rewarding thing about the fundraising?
We are very thankful to everyone who has generously donated to our fundraiser. One of the lovely staff at Highland Fling also volunteers for Scottish Mountain Rescue so it was really rewarding to meet her and hear all about the vital work that this charity provides across the country. We are also happy to share that Highland Experience will match all of the donations given!
What’s next for Highland Experience Tours?
We are preparing for a busy 2024 season. We’re very excited to return to pre-pandemic numbers in terms of the size of our team and the tours we will be running. We also have a new fleet of buses arriving over the next few months, so we’re all pretty excited about that!
It’s wonderful to see this novel example of fundraising, and just goes to show how many ways there are to get involved. Our Mountain Rescue Teams provide a vital free service for everyone who enjoys spending time in the outdoors in Scotland. However, we couldn’t do what we do without the support of people like you.
