In an emergency call 999 and ask for Police then Mountain Rescue
This month we wanted to introduce you to some of the people who support Scottish Mountain Rescue in a different way behind the scenes – our monthly givers!
These are the people who make a small donation to Scottish Mountain Rescue each month to support our work and keep us running. They are a vital part of Scottish Mountain Rescue’s support crew!
“I give for several reasons;
Firstly I walk all year round over hills and mountains and in remote areas when covering long distance routes. I also combine walking with cycling and camping which enables access to remoter areas. Most of my walking is done in Scotland.
Secondly I appreciate the work of the Scottish Mountain Rescue teams. I have never needed to call Mountain Rescue and hope I never will. However, I know it only takes one wrong decision or a trip or a slip in the wrong place to be in mortal danger. For example, a few weeks ago I tripped when crossing the Lairig an Laoigh. I had a heavy backpack as I had been camping so landed quite heavily on rock strewn terrain. While escaping with cuts and bruises I was aware that I was only inches from hitting my head on a large rock.
Finally my Christian faith encourages me to give generously. “

“Happily, I’ve never had to call on Scottish Mountain Rescue myself but, as a seasoned hillwalker, it brings great peace of mind to know they are there when needed.
I’ve donated in a variety of ways for a number of years now and by far the simplest way for me to support this great cause is through Payroll Giving. Via my employer, I have nominated a monthly amount, which is deducted from my salary pre tax and donated to my chosen charity. I am fortunate too that my employer operates a matched giving scheme, meaning anything I donate in this way is doubled.
The volunteers in these teams are invaluable to our outdoors communities across the country and if my monthly donation helps them to continue delivering their services in their words…Any hour, Any Day, Any Weather….I am very grateful.”

“We donate to Scottish Mountain Rescue as Tim loves to be in the mountains and Avon worries less knowing Mountain Rescue exists. Tim has been involved in some rescues and has been very impressed by the dedication and selflessness of the Mountain Rescue volunteers. We think they’re heroes!”

There are several different ways that you can give a monthly or regular donation to Scottish Mountain Rescue. You can set up a direct debit to enable a monthly donation to be taken from your account or you can ask at your work about payroll giving. Payroll giving enables the donation to be made from your pay before deduction of tax. So it’s easy to set up and tax friendly. 🙂
If you would like to find out more about making a regular donation to Scottish Mountain Rescue (monthly, quarterly or any other frequency) then please visit our website at www.scottishmountainrescue.org/support-us or email us at fundraising@scottishmountainrescue.org
